# Introduction and Welcome

The Computing Services Department delivers high‑quality Information and Communications Technology (ICT) services that support the University’s learning, administrative, and research activities.

We enable staff and students to use technology effectively in teaching, learning, and research. Our goal is to provide an IT environment that reflects SETU’s international reputation and advances the University’s strategic priorities.

We are committed to meeting the evolving needs of our diverse user community by adopting innovative technologies and continuously enhancing our services.

## What Support Services Do We Provide

The Computing Services Helpdesk provides students with support and guidance to ensure they get the most from the University’s IT services.

Our team assists with a wide range of issues, including printing, Wi‑Fi connectivity, account lockouts, and other common technical queries such as:

* SETU Carlow Staff PC’s and Laptops
* Classroom PC’s an Audio-Visual Equipment
* Lab PC’s and Audio-Visual Equipment
* Network Infrastructure and Wi-Fi services
* All Student and Staff accounts
* Password Reset and MFA assistance
* All Student and Staff Printers and associated print services
* Access to Software (Microsoft Office, SolidWorks etc)
* System Backups

## Where are we located?

The Computing Services Helpdesk is located on the top floor of the Learning Resource Centre (LRC) on the Carlow Campus.

## What are our opening hours?

The Helpdesk is available to both students and staff as a walk‑in and online support service during the hours listed below. We aim to resolve minor issues immediately; however, more complex queries may require a support ticket to be escalated to the technical team responsible for your department.

You can log a ticket online at any time, but responses will only be issued during Helpdesk opening hours.

**During term time**:&#x20;

**Monday – Thursday** 9am to 9pm (limited service from 6pm to 9pm)

**Out-of-term hours**:&#x20;

**Monday – Friday** 9am to 5pm
